This page details all the possible endings for The Witch's House, and how you can get each one. Depending on your actions after the final savepoint in the game, there are two different endings you can get - a normal ending and a true ending. There is also a "secret" ending you can obtain, which is called the "pseudo-third ending" by Fummy, the creator of the game. In the 1.07 version of The Witch's House, Fummy added new ending called the "-----" ending.

The "Good" Ending

Viola narrowly escapes the Witch's House and is reunited with her dad shortly after. He asks if she is alright, and as they are about to leave, the Legless Girl appears and crawls after them. She incoherently tries to communicate with them, but Viola's father panics and shoots the girl twice, in an effort to protect his daughter. After the girl dies in a pool of blood and vanishes, the two leave the forest. The screen turns black and the credits will roll.

In the ending credits, Viola is seen following closely behind her father. She stops for a moment and turns around, staring off in the direction of the Witch's House. Her father calls for her and the two finally depart together. Near the end of the credits, The Black Cat appears briefly along the forest path, watching Viola and her father disappear in the distance, before vanishing.

Requirements

To get this ending, successfully leave the house after reading the Witch's Diary. You must not retrieve Ellen's Knife from the cabinet.

The True Ending

True end

Concept art of the game's ending.

After reading the Witch's Diary, Viola is chased by the Legless Girl. Before leaving the house, she retrieves Ellen's Knife from the black closet in the upper-right room on the first floor. As she escapes to the forest and gets past the roses using the cute little bottle, the Legless Girl continues to crawl after her, leaving a trail of blood. Instead of running, Viola finally speaks to her, remarking on her stubbornness before stabbing her in the eye with the knife she retrieved earlier.

In the speech that follows, the "Viola" that the player has been controlling thus far reveals that she is the true witch, and the real Viola, whom she had befriended and convinced to switch bodies with her is now trapped in Ellen's mutilated body. She continues to speak of how she used Viola's compassion and pity to her advantage, and that she had initially promised to switch their bodies back after a day, but went back on her word and refused to return it afterwards. As she explains how the house aided and guided her out the whole way, she senses that the real Viola is worried for her father, and promises to "give him Viola's share of love".

Shortly after, Viola's dad shows up and rushes towards Ellen, whom he mistakes for his daughter due to her appearance. The Legless Girl tries to call out to him, but in a state of panic, he shoots her in the head twice, killing her. As the two leave the forest, Ellen can be seen giggling before exiting the frame.

The black cat will then appear and look at Ellen's body before they both vanish.

Requirements

To get this ending, return to the black closet that initially said "open when the house returns to normal" as you escape from the Legless Girl after reading the Witch's Diary. You will retrieve Ellen's Knife from it, which will be used to stab the Legless Girl when you reach the forest.

The Secret (or Pseudo-) Ending

In the hallway outside of the witch's room, the black cat will greet Viola (note that in the regular endings, Viola will only encounter a black cat's corpse in this hallway). In a brief speech, the cat will say that it knew Viola would not need it's help, and that the house acknowledges its true master. In its parting words, the cat will call Viola "Ellen, my faithful witch", before vanishing in purple smoke. The cat will then lie dead on the floor.

Halfway through the dialogue, the name "Black Cat" will change to "Demon", and after its speech, if you choose to investigate the body, it will say "the corpse of a black cat possessed by a demon".

When you read the witch's diary, instead of the regular explanation for the switched bodies, it goes into greater detail of the reason why Ellen's body is in its mutilated state; prior to the switch, Ellen had gouged out her own eyes and cut off her legs, so that Viola, when she was in Ellen's body, could not try to find help. She was also given a throat burning medicine that made her unable to speak, ensuring she could never talk to anyone about what happened.

The rest of the ending will be identical to either the normal ending or the true ending, depending on the player's following actions.

After watching the credits and returning to the main menu, if you select "Continue" it will say "My Room" rather than "Witch's Room" in the slot you saved in before the chase, if you have reached the secret ending.

Requirements

In order to get this ending, you must play the entire game without interacting with the black cat at all.

The ---- Ending

Fummy didn't write this in the readme file of the 1.07 version, the newest version. Viola is awaken in the forest, just like the first scene begin, but you MUST NOT MOVE (you may press any other button except those that open the menu, or move Viola). The black cat will get bored 10 minutes later, and sit down. After 50 more minutes, he'll leave the screen. After an hour, you'll be taken to the other screen, where the roses vanish. You may move in this part, but only downwards, and it ends.

NOTE 1: If you wanna know why this happens read "The Diary of Ellen" which will provide some explanation

NOTE 2: There is nothing after this ending. No credits or special scenes, just the 'END' word on the bottom left. You will be taken back to the menu once the END screen fades.

Requirements

In order to get this ending, you must:

  • Wait on the first screen (opening) in one hour, DO NOT MOVE AT ALL COST!
  • The window has to be active.
